About the Competition

The Al Brown Trophy is the supreme award in the B.W.C.U.C.C. trophy cabinet. It is awarded each season to the individual player in the club who makes the biggest all-round contribution with the bat and ball. Individual performances are measured by a weighted system that takes into account, batting, bowling and fielding contributions in each innings that a player competes in, and also recognizes significant cricketing milestones (for example 6-wicket hauls, and centuries). The official formulas for calculation of points is explained in depth below:

Bowling Points:
Bowling points are awarded to players using the following criteria:
• 10 points for every wicket per innings (qualification: 2 wickets per innings)
• 10 bonus points for 4 wickets in an innings
• Additional 20 bonus points for 5 wickets in an innings
(e.g. A bowler takes 4 wickets in an innings: 40 points + 10 bonus points = 50 points. A bowler takes 6 wickets in an innings: 60 points + 30 bonus points = 90 points).

Batting Points
Batting points are awarded to players using the following criteria:
• 1 point for every run scored per innings (qualification: 20 runs per innings)
• 10 bonus points for 50 runs
• Additional 20 bonus points for 100 runs
(e.g. A batter scores 57 in an innings: 57 points + 10 bonus points = 67 points. A batter scores 107* in an innings: 107 points + 30 bonus points = 137 points).

Fielding Points
Points are awarded for fielding using the following criteria
• 10 points for every catch taken
• 10 points for every stumping
• 10 points for every run out
• Minimum of 2 fielding dismissals per innings to qualify for points
