Junior Wrap Up 30-01-10
5 February 2010
BWU 1

BWU 102/5 beat Syd 4 101/8

BWU 2

BWU2 165-4 lost to Sydenham 7 200-4.

BWU2 (formerly BWU3) lost to Sydenham in their first game back after christmas. BWU are now in Section 1 so will be in for highly competitive games for the remander of the season.

Saturday's game was a high scoring affair, mainly due to a large number of extras being bowled!! Possibly a reflection of the long lay off! Daniel Webber stood out with the ball only conceding 9 runs of his three overs.

Burnside's run chase started off promisingly with Daniel and Roberto Bray-Descalzo putting on a quick 27 opening stand which was then followed by a great partnership between Roberto and Jack Lindsay which took the score through to 99.

Jack was finally bowled for 44 off only 39 balls while Roberto offered good support in getting 17.

Ben Holmes then came to the crease and scored a breezy 32 off 33 before the run chase just got too much.

Saturday's game marked James Rose's first game for the season and he showed great promise with both bat and ball.

Super 8's

The boys had a good win on Saturday against a pretty handy Sydenham side (they had a number of year 7 development players and 4 key opening bowlers). They batted first and made 101/7 with all the boys bowling well. The outfield was quite slow so runs were hard to come by. We made the required runs in the 33rd over for the loss of 5 wickets. Good batting Matthew Hay (27 retired – 50 balls), James Sheehan 19no, Regan Cantwell 16 & Callum Curnow 11no. Lost a couple of early weeks, consolidated (Regan & Mat – 40 run partnership) and then with Regan going out and soon after Mat’s retirement, we lost another 2 quick wickets before James and Callum brought it home
